What started as casual browsing of one and two-bedroom properties in SF turned into a comprehensive exploration involving daily updates and excel spreadsheets once Hector signaled the time was ripe to buy. Hector and I have known each other for years. While living in New York but wanting to move back to the bay area I started looking at properties online. Every once in a while I would send a listing to Hector and ask for his opinion on price, location, etc in SF/Oakland, Berkeley. Let me say this, Hector is a Saint. That sending Hector properties "every once in a while" became maybe 3-10/week for 2 years. Hector has an excellent grasp of the entire Bay Area market and guided me through my house buying process. In March we put an offer on a 4 unit building in Berkeley. Hector did the research and looked at comps in the area and suggested a certain price to be competitive. Let's be honest, the market is red hot right now and I was not comfortable with the price he thought was needed to win and so I did what I wanted which was slightly over asking. The building received 21 offers of which mine placed 17th. Lesson learned, always listen to Hector. I moved back to SF in November and increased the intensity of my search. I sublet a place in SF while I looked. I settled on being open to moving to Oakland, as the price range was more in line with what I wanted to pay, and was able to find an awesome 1 bedroom condo in the Lake Merritt area. Hector continued to show the patience of a Saint, while I asked to see the place 2 more times after the initial showing. He did his research and came back to me with a number that he thought would be competitive. This time I listened to his advice and, guess what our offer was accepted! I am no in the midst of a remodel and will be moving in at the beginning of March. I highly recommend Hector for your new home search and am extremely thankful for all the help he provided and will be providing throughout my real estate buying career.

Not only was I moving to a new city and a new job but buying a house while still living in LA. It was nerve-wracking at first but then Hector comes along makes things look so easy! Some call it luck but I call it a blessing to be surrounded by really extraordinary and caring people. Having grown up in the Bay Area, Hector was a fountain of knowledge. Every neighborhood we visited, there was something to be learned! We toured many condos in the city but with the HOA restrictions on dogs, we ventured out to Oakland and found the perfect little house with a yard. Let me start off by saying it is really hard to find a real estate agent that will help you find exactly what you are looking for and be there every step of the way. I was the first buyer so It was crucial for me to find a place that would be in my price range and that was in the neighborhood of my choosing. He was very patient when it came to looking at multiple homes, not to mention redefining his criteria every time we looked at one to better suit my expectations. Even after experiencing a huge disappointment, when my bid for the first house I chose fell through, he was very supportive and did not give up to find another suitable home. I have purchased two houses with hector and he is a real estate agent from start to finish. And when I say start to finish I mean from that first moment when you feel it would be a good idea to purchase a house for your family all the way until the house warming party. And do not be surprised if you end up inviting a hector to your house warming party because through helping you buy a house and just his personality he will become a friend. He is very good at his job in all aspects if you want a new, old, fixer-upper, or condo. He knows people that can help with the loan process he knows people that can help with the fixing process if you want a fixer-upper.
